About Stapla Ultrasonics

STAPLA is an international company with headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany and in Boston, Massachusetts (USA).

STAPLA Ultraschall-Technik GmbH was established in 1982 by the engineers who designed and built the world's first ultrasonic metal welding systems. The primary business goal of their first product was to offer a compact user-friendly welder to industry. That goal has perpetuated through all of STAPLA's designs. STAPLA generated the largest worldwide market impact with the introduction of the MOSKITO wire splicer series.

In North America, General Motors was the first to purchase the MOSKITO in 1985. By 1986, GM had 100 MOSKITO welders operating in their production lines. In Europe, more than 200 STAPLA splicers had been installed for automotive wire harness manufacturers by 1987.

In 1986, STAPLA Germany and Saeed Mogadam founded STAPLA Ultrasonics Coproration here in the United States.

STAPLA's innovative ideas continue to set industrial standards in ultrasonic metal welding worldwide. Strong technical expertise and progressive leadership have combined to make STAPLA a global partner with the largest manufacturers of automobiles, appliances, and electronic components/subsystems. Today, STAPLA is the largest manufacturer of ultrasonic metal welding products with sales exceeding 15 million dollars.

Although the electronic modules are still produced by STAPLA GmbH, most of our welders and spare parts are manufactured and assembled here in the US by our in-house machine shop and network of high-tech suppliers. These suppliers are well trained and supported by our design and quality engineers. They produce quality parts at low cost utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. STAPLA Ultrasonics Corporation is committed to increasing US manufacturing under this arrangement for continued support of North America and increasing support of STAPLA GmbH in Europe.

In 1996, STAPLA USA celebrated its 10th Anniversary of building partnerships with its customers composed of open communication and mutually beneficial results. We are committed to providing our customers with unequaled support. Proof of our commitment to these principles is reflected in the establishment of local sales/service offices, managed by direct STAPLA technical employees. Presently these offices include El Paso, Texas for our Mexican and West Coast customers and for Ontario, Canada.

In 1995, in further support of our US and European customers with manufacturing facilities in China, STAPLA established a technical center in Beijing. Future offices will be established as needed around the world. In addition to our sales/ service offices there are over 35 representatives worldwide, with highly trained staff, to provide local support to all of our customers.

As early as in 1986, STAPLA was awarded a highly regarded Innovative Award of the German Trade and Industry. The award was given for the portable splice-welding equipment Moskito with its novel tooling system and intelligent quality control system.

In 1997, STAPLA was acquired by Schunk Group in Germany. Schunk is a holding company with over 50 different companies, over 600 million dollars yearly revenue. Schunk Ultrasonics, one of the companies held by Schunk is another world leader in ultrasonic metal welding, specializing in wire splicing. Together, STAPLA and Schunk have over 80% of the world market share.

One focal point of their activities was technical development as well as application engineering. Many basic developments have led to the type of innovations expected today of young companies and which are required for entrepreneurial success.

Other pioneering achievements followed in their wake both for mechanical and for electronic components, and the STAPLA achieved worldwide recognition.

The distribution of STAPLA products is mostly done by direct sale and in close contact with the users. Numerous authorized representatives with application engineering laboratories worldwide support the distribution and service of STAPLA products on international markets.

ULTRAINDEXER
"The best of both worlds are finally together."

A precision ultrasonic universal welder coupled with a state-of-the-art linear table to produce the highest quality bonds ever.
The ULTRAINDEXER can be easily programmed to execute multiple weld cycles/sequences on the same part or different assemblies. It is designed to weld fine material (i.e. 0.002" thick flat ribbon cables) with the highest degree of accuracy.
The ULTRAINDEXER uses the fully digital, 3.0 kW ultrasonic controller/generator specifically designed for metal welding. As a powerful, rugged 20kHz welder, it accommodates rapid cycles, but at the same time is capable of welding fine material. The linear table is repeatable within +/- 0.0002", and can be programmed for an infinite number of positions. The tooling is modular and is custom built to the application specifications.
