The Splicer Model 20 is designed to produce the highest quality wire splices with ease of set up, and operation with minimal maintenance.

The low weight and compact design of this welder allows it to be either a portable or bench unit, for operation in small spaces.

Tooling

The modular components and a few movable parts, of this 20 kHz frequency welder, adds to the ease of operation and maintenance. The splicers tooling is universal and will weld different splice sizes with a total cross sectional area of up to 20 mm2, with a simple adjustment.

The changeover from one cross section range to another is done simply by the adjustment knob, equipped with a digital indicator, precisely indicating the width of the weld according to the movement of the horizontal anvil. This takes less than a minute.

The complete transducer assembly (vibrating system) is modular and self adjustable for ease of maintenance.

A vertical anvil applies the welding force to the wire and therefore the transducer can be in a fixed position for better performance.

Operation

The upper part of the welder has been designed for easy placement of the wires. This process is further facilitated by the motion of the horizontal anvil, which allows a wide gap for wire insertion.

STAPLA Ultrasonics' Generator

The Generator for Splicer Model 20 is designed and manufactured by STAPLA Ultrasonics. The unit operates with 20 kHz frequency and has a power output of 3 kW. It is equipped with the following features:

• Automatic tuning
• Automatic frequency control
• Automatic overload disconnection
• Electronic timer in semiconductor technology without any delays
• After pulse device to achieve longer tool life
• Setting of welding parameters by digital switches

The generator also integrates an electric amplitude control in order to assure optimal weld parameters and therefore perfect weld quality.

Standard Quality Monitor

The weld time is measured and compared to the predetermined limits for any possible quality problems due to wires or operation. This monitoring is a standard feature in the splicer.
