ULTRASONIC Terminal Applicator

(UTA3000)

The UTA3000 facilitates the ultrasonic welding of electrical wire conductors to many commonly available "continuous strip form" terminals. The welded terminal is automatically separated from the continuous carrier strip while simultaneously crimping the wire insulation (when required).

The UTA3000 combines "state-of-the-art" STAPLA Ultrasonics’ technology, a uniquely designed terminal attaching press and interchangeable terminal applicator tooling into one machine. It can be bench mounted for manual operation or interface with "semi" or "fully" automatic industry standard wire processing wire machines.

The Ultrasonic Terminal Applicator consists of the following:

• Ultrasonic Universal Applicator
• STAPLA's Metal Welding Controller ST3000
• Operation Software

Features:

• Solid aluminum bronze wear plates support the weld head for maximum rigidity, maximum service life, and zero deflection.

• The transducer assembly (i.e. horn assembly) can be removed or rotated by simply loosening a clamp handle (no tools required). The exclusive "nodal support" designed transducer assembly provides rigidity and minimal deflection.

• An indexing ring allows precision rotation of the ultrasonic horn for ease of set up.

• Electronic height sensor automatically measures the pre-weld compaction and the final weld height.

• The pneumatic cylinder may be easily replaced with optional sizes to better conform to unique weld applications.

• The ultrasonic welder sub-assembly and tooling are designed to be modular, compact and easily removed as one entire unit in minutes.

• Facilitates "left-to-right" or "right-to left" fed reeled continuous strip terminals..

• Design of crimp tooling allows changeover in minutes.

• All perishable crimp tooling is easily accessed and replaced in minutes.

• All pertinent slides and pivot joints are provided with easily accessed lubrication means.

• Optional pressure transducers can be mounted to provide crimp force information. Interfaces with many industry standard crimp monitors.

• A universal "air-feed" unit provides the precise automatic indexing of the continuous strip fed terminals into the proper position.

• The machine is supplied with an adjustable position reel arm for reeled terminals.

• Precise fine adjustments of 0.025mm (0.001) increments, without the need for wrenches, are provided for both weld height (stepper motor) and crimp height settings.

• Both the crimping mechanism and ultrasonic transducer/weld head assembly motions are pneumatic and independently driven.

• All tooling is designed for rigid and accurate positioning.

• The machine frame is designed to exhibit unprecedented low deflection. Frame members are keyed and doweled.

• The machine has a 172mm wide x 406mm deep footprint (6.76" x 15.98") for mounting.
